Venice, Chioggia and “Casa dei Tre Oci”– Sailing and photography

This trip gives a new perspective on Venice, almost a hymn to beauty, to the uniqueness and frailty of this city.

An urban safari in the jungle of endless wonders: corners of the lagoon to be watched with curious eyes and immortalised with the camera lens. Watching from the sea the reflections of villas, catching their glimpses in the shiny light of the sunset, dining on board surrounded by a unique panorama. The next day, on a sailing boat, reach Chioggia, also known as “little Venice”. Let yourself be captured by the animated climate of this active town: take a walk through roads and bridges in perfect Venetian style, go and see the 14th century tower clock, the oldest in the world still in working order. Or discover the local fish market, the pivotal point in Chioggia’s economy and stop for a taste of some typical food specialties which combine fruit and vegetables and sea products in a unique combination.

We then return to Venice for a visit to Casa dei Tre Oci. This mansion in neo-Gothic style, built by the artist Mario De Maria (Marius Pictor) on the island of Giudecca, right in front of the Piazza and of the Palazzo Ducale. Today it hosts a Foundation whose aim is to promote contemporary language forms, most notably photography, through cutting-edge exhibitions, events and workshops. As an alternative you can visit the extraordinary Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, which the patron of the arts Peggy Guggenheim chose as her residence and has now become a museum hosting an extraordinary contemporary art collection, as well as valuable initiatives and temporary exhibitions. The Marina di Sant’Elena, where the boat is moored, is a 10-minute walk from the Biennale Gardens, an ideal venue for a visit to the exhibition spaces where, from May to November, the international exhibitions of the Biennale Foundation take place.

This cruise is available in the months of March, April, May, June, September, October and November.
