Ravenna – Venice: Byzantine art from the mosaics to Murano glass

Sailing boat cruises to two of the most extraordinary cities in Italy.

Ancient gateways to the East, towns which have always been connected to water and sailing: Venice and Ravenna contain the treasures of an exceptional and unique history in the world. But they are also two romantic sites, filled with charm and corners where you can enjoy a slow and soft pace. Ravenna is a town of stratified histories. The Roman, Byzantine and medieval civilisations have all left their subsequent and distinctive traits. Three times capital: of the Western Roman Empire, of the Ostrogoth Kingdom and of the Byzantine Exarchate, Ravenna preserves vestiges of this splendid past in the gold of the mosaics, in the splendour of decorated walls and vaults, in the solid aspect of its villas and churches.

After visiting Ravenna, we take a sailing boat to Venice, gliding along coasts once frequented by ships coming from the ports of the Orient with their valuable loads. Arriving in Venice from the sea is a unique privilege! Seeing from a distance the imposing bell-tower of San Marco, mooring in the most famous square in Italy and stop for coffee at the famous Caffè Florian. Strolling along calli and campi, then have dinner in excellent restaurants. The next day set off to discover the lagoon. Visit Murano and its glass factories, where artisans/artists produce unique items, of timeless beauty. Finally return to Venice and satisfy your wish for discovery and relaxation.

This cruise is available in the months of May, June, July and September.
